Wendy E. Long

Wendy Elizabeth Long is an American attorney who currently serves as counsel to the Judicial Confirmation Network.[1] In this position, Long has taken a prominent role in print and media outlets before[2][3] and during[4] the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor opposing possible court nominees of the current President of the United States, Barack Obama.

Early life

A New Hampshire native, Long was born Wendy Elizabeth Stone, the daughter of Norma and Donald Stone, a real estate developer.[5] The younger Stone graduated Dartmouth College, then attended Northwestern University's School of Law, graduating in 1995. Stone served as a press secretary for two Republican U.S. Senators, William L. Armstrong from Colorado and Gordon J. Humphrey from her native New Hampshire.[1]

Legal career

After law school Stone moved to New York City to work as clerk to U.S. court of appeals Second Circuit judge Ralph K. Winter, Jr., and later clerked for Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas,[1] in whose office she met Arthur S. Long, the man she would marry in 1998.[6] Ms. Long worked as a litigator for the law firm Kirkland & Ellis before joining the Judicial Confirmation Network as counsel in 2005.[1]
